“After high school, life took an unexpected turn, leading to a period of imprisonment,” he shares. “While loved ones progressed, I felt trapped, serving 11 years. Upon release, the feeling of being left behind was overwhelming. I yearned to catch up, working tirelessly, yet remained caught in a cycle of temporary contracts.”
Despite the hardships, a spark of hope remained. He knew that a greater purpose awaited him. A chance encounter led him to Cleanslate, a program that resonated deeply with his desire for genuine transformation.
Finding Hope and Rebuilding Lives
“I accompanied a friend to Cleanslate, and when I heard Rosetta explain the program's mission – that it was about more than just jobs, but about rebuilding lives – I knew I had found what I was searching for,” he recalls.
Cara, through its compassionate approach, helped him recognize the inherent value within himself. It wasn't just his experience, but his very presence that could make a difference. He discovered the power of leading by example, inspiring others through his dedication and commitment.
“Seeing others become more engaged, more committed, simply by witnessing my own dedication, filled me with a profound sense of purpose,” he explains. “It motivates me to continue showing up, to continue striving for the best version of myself.”

His initial motivation for joining Cara was to support a friend and secure employment. However, the experience proved to be far more transformative. He discovered a community that fostered growth, resilience, and a renewed sense of self-worth.
“Cara is truly about rebuilding lives,” he affirms. “Now, I can envision a future with job security, stability, and meaningful work that keeps me engaged. I am on the path to realizing my dream job.”
Through programs like Cleanslate, the Sai Kripalu Foundation strives to empower individuals to overcome adversity, reclaim their dignity, and build fulfilling lives. Each year, Cleanslate provides short-term employment to over 500 job seekers, offering a vital opportunity to rebuild and rediscover their potential.
